'Cause you're lookin' really cute in those jeans, let me peel them off like a tangerine

Thriller turned 25 this past November. To celebrate Jackson and company released Thriller 25 in Februaury, a reissue of Thriller packed with seven new tracks. Five of the tracks are collaborations/remixes with contemporary artists like Akon, Kanye West, will.i.am, and Fergie. Ok, while I understand where the Jackson camp was coming from in getting today's "hottest" acts to come in an revamp a few songs (got to get the younguns innerested), but Fergie and will.i.am? Really?

I will admit "The Girl is Mine 2008" isn't completely hopeless, but "Beat It 2008"? What were they fucking thinking?! Fergie's vocals on the ditty sound like a night of terrible karaoke--while you may have had fun singing, everyone listening was cringing. Definitely the weakest of the remixes. The best of the remixes hail from Akon and Kanye West.

The remixes seem as though they were tagged on as an afterthought. If they wanted to do remixes, I say they should have went full-on cock's out and released Thriller 25 as a double-disc; disc one: the album straight up, and then disc two: one remixes of the entire album, with better talent doing the mixing, of course. Mark Ronson, Justice, Danger Mouse, and we'll keep Kanye too--the possibilities are endless. Will.i.am--really?
